Arrival/Departure Times
You are asked not to arrive before 3 pm and to vacate by no later than 11am on your date of departure. This is to allow us sufficient time to prepare the apartment for other guests. However, during off-peak times, it may be possibile to relax these timings. Please ask if you require a variation to thse times and we will do our best to accommodate you if at all possible.
Electricity
The electricity supply in Spain is similar to the
UK however, plug sockets are of the round two-pin
variety. Some adapters are available in the
apartment for your convenience. Please also
note that the apartment has a fuse box located to
the right of the front door, which may “trip”
if the power supply is overloaded. The switches
should be in the “up” position to provide
a continuous supply.
Gas
There are no gas appliances in the apartment.
Currency
Spain’s currency is now based on the Euro (although
many places still list prices in both Euros and Pasetas).
Medical Facilities
Spain operates within the policies
of the European Community and as such has a reciprocal
agreement for medical facilities with the UK.
You will however, require a form E111 in order to
obtain any treatment during your stay in Spain.
Forms E111 may be obtained from your local Post Office
and should be completed and stamped at the Post Office.
You will be required to produce this form in the event
of treatment being required. You are further
advised to bring along an additional photocopy of
this form as this will be required by the medical
facility providing your treatment.
In addition, you may also be covered by any private
insurance you may have taken out prior to your visit.
Please consult the small print on any such policies
to ensure that adequate cover is included.
Supermarkets
There are many supermarkets in Torrevieja. Two
of these are in close proximity to the apartment –
details of these supermarkets and how to get to them,
are provided in the loose leaf binder in the apartment.
Most supermarkets are open from 9 a.m. through to
9 p.m. daily (except Sundays, when all shops are closed
in Spain). Supermarkets sell a wide range of
Spanish, British and German produce. There are
many open markets trading in and around Torrevieja.
The main market
in Torrevieja is open every Friday, and takes over
a large area of the town centre.
Telephones
There is no telephone in the apartment; however a
public call box is available near by. Cellular
phone services are very good in the local area; you
may wish to bring a cellular phone with you as a convenient
alternative. Take caution however, as calls
made in Spain will be routed via your service provider
in the UK!
Water
The water in Spain is safe to drink, but you may find
it contains a taste of the minerals used to purify
it. Most locals prefer to use bottled water, which
is available cheaply in all supermarkets etc.
Refuse
Household refuse can be deposited in any of the large
green stack bins available in and around the residential
area. These stack bins are emptied each evening by
the local council.
